My 2022 resolution is to not engage in arguments online. They serve no purpose, and I will be happier without them. if someone is a fucking moron Im just going to ignore them.

Ive tried this but often its really just trolls, and even if you point out "oh you probably assumed XYZ and heres why thats not really applicable" they just jump to LOL RENT FREE OMG YOU MENTIONED SOMETHING I DIDNT EVEN SUGGEST (they did). Its very rarely worth it. And when it is, you can normally tell. The person isnt antagonistic, they are just confused and normally openly asking for input. If the poster is angry, its best to ignore them. They are drunk on outrage. They want to be outraged, and you stealing that from them will force them to move to be outraged at you.

both parties seriously disagree. They should not argue, they have different value systems and cannot relate.
both parties are poorly informed. They should not argue and should instead study.

for me its how far away from the original topic it is (the goal posts getting moved), the futility of doing it and the fact that its never done in any kind of good faith and rather to brow beat people over a deeply held opinion that nobody else agrees with or cares about

this is specific to the internet where its basically a shopping center screaming contest over text and i have never seen it play out differently so probably all arguments on the internet are stupid and only serve the purpose of making the other person leave which could be a good thing i guess

You missed:
one or both parties are basing their statements on logical fallacies.
your last line "based on the above, all arguments conceivable are stupid" is a perfect example of this since the four lines preceding it certainly dont cover all arguments.

I enjoy doing puzzles and I think theyre a good way to disconnect from all the tasks and distractions of the world. A puzzle, no music, no tv, no talking. Maybe a glass of tea. I think thats good.

ravensburger makes very solid puzzles that are normally interesting but also feel nice. The tactile feel of a puzzle seems unimportant but it does contribute to the experience. If youre really into it it helps you zen out, and focus on what youre doing. A weight to it.
I normally do 1000 piece puzzles, but Ive done 3000 before. Its an order of magnitude more time consuming.

Oh I like this! I haven't done one in years but I've been encouraged to engage in more shape rotation, and it might not be a bad idea. Tactile means so much these days. I've been wearing more cologne both as a canary in the Covid mine measure, and just to force my brain to unpack the layers of scent, and I'm quite enjoying it, although I might be allergic to some of them.

If its not something youre familiar with or strong with I would suggest smaller puzzles first. I think 500 is the perfect start size. If you want more go for 1000. 100-300 is small, and really for children.
