Back in Ancient times (10,500+ years ago) man had and used an entirely different set of technology and science. There was an ongoing solar storm that occurred for at least a few hundred thousand years (think red storm on Jupiter) which caused a constant CME stream to the Earth. This resulted in a massive plasmic toroid forming in Earth's ionosphere, and was clearly visible at all times in the sky, likely so bright it was comparable to a "second" sun and could be observed during the day.
This Solar storm allowed the toroid to remain active in the sky for many thousands of years, long enough for man to evolve around it and grow curious. Eventually, like all things, man learned to understand this toroid and an ancient civilization formed, building pyramids and harnessing the energy of the torroid.
The tetragrammaton is the number science behind how to construct these massive pyramids to the exact proportions to obey the inverse square law which would allow the extraction of energy from the toroid via resonant inductions. The DeVinci code is also all about this, it is basically the framework one would use to construct objects in exacting specification in order to take advantage of the toroid.
Eventually the solar storm ended, and along with it the toroid. This would have had massive geomagnetic consequences for the Earth, causing not only the collapse of their technological civilization but also massive flooding, earthquakes and volcanoes on a cataclysmic scale.
The pyramids survived, but not longer function and are useless without the toroid to extract energy from, which is why the powers that be guard them, but couldn't care less about researching them, they already know all there is to know about them.
