Hmmm. There is the South East region, its the part that sticks into Canada. It rains a lot during the summer and is basically a better version of western Washington.

There is Anchorage. It's the biggest city in Alaska, sometimes I forget I'm in Alaska while there. Outside from there its beautiful in most directions. Then you have Fairbanks where it can be 100-90 F in the summer to - 40 F in the winter. It's pretty wild.

Lots of nature to see, explore, hunt, and fish. I have been here for a while but I'm still exploring it. It's a bit weird when the sun doesn't set for a part of the year.

We also exist an hour behind the lower 48.

Southern areas on the coast don't get too bad, they have the ocean to help regulate the temperature but in the interior region of the state it can get to - 30 F and has been - 66 F. - 5 can feel balmy and warm after a few days of - 30

Depending on how much time you can get, I recommend driving to Washington, taking the ferry. You will get to see a lot of the US on the way and then you get to take an inland passage ride all the way up. I have seen plates from every state here.

Flying up is faster and cheaper however.

If you come in the summer, expect short nights. Depending on how far north you go, don't expect any night.
