I know that it can be difficult to control yourself, especially when you’re surrounded by posters who do nothing but to engage in aggressive, monkey-like shiftflighting on a daily basis, but you can try to be respectful to other posters and point out faults or tell them about things you do not approve of without having to personally insult them, or to use some other kind of ad hominem attack. It might not fit in with what you believe to be the “vibe” of the site, but keep in mind that any discussion anywhere will be as civil as the people involved in it are willing to remain.
