The art on the flag is actually very pretty, especially when you know that the kansas territory used to stretch out past denver and into the rockies. The flag itself suffers from the same poor decisions as most american state flags do: navy blue background, official seal, name of state in gold letters. It sucks to look at. Ironically, generic and boring but with occasional glimpses of beauty is a great metaphor for kansas.
