Let me break this down for you.

The closer the target is the less the pellets are going to spread. Within the average home which is about 30 yards across is not nearly enough distance for the shot to spread out. At the distance from your bedroom to your front door you're just making huge fucking holes in whatever you do manage to hit which if you're rocking a shotgun it's probably gonna be your ceiling or walls.
On top of all that most shotguns are VERY long. The short ones you need special licenses for and tax stamps. Long weapons like that will make room clearing incredibly difficult as you get tangled up in your own weapon.
Home defense is better with a pistol or an SBR as not only do you have a wider variety of rounds to work with you also get more shots.
You're not John Wick. Get over it. Your aim isn't gonna be perfect when you are in this situation.
