Progressives will never admit this, but Progress is a game of give and take. Not all trades are made equal and the reason it becomes too comfy and collapses is because people lose sight of what they are trading away, unable to realize that they can't ever get it back without violence if the trade they made isn't to their liking.
That's why when you see people saying "You're on the wrong side of history", or "Progressives always win because progress always goes forward" always remember that these people would have said the same about Hitler or Mao because they put food on their table in the most desperate of times in exchange for a few million people dying. They are enemies of humanity because they would gladly trade away what's not theirs for temporary gains today.
