That's why they constantly seek drama, they LIVE at baseline and inevitably turn every circumstance into their baseline. That's why they go after the asshole, the lazy drug addict, the criminal - not because they're better overall, but because their moments of decency are so rare and so surprising that it's like a hit of heroin after a stint in jail.
That's the main thing PUAs hint at but never say so concisely. The shorthand of "women love assholes" is somewhat inaccurate of a summary; really they love the idea of being exceptional without having to try, and for an asshole any amount of humanity is exceptional to a degree that normals can't compete with.
This is most obviously seen with finances. A basement dwelling small time drug dealer's girlfriend will rock his world for getting out of the house and landing a job at the hardware store. If that same person continues working and very slowly climbing the ladder, 10 years down the line and she's lost interest even if he's making 10x what he originally was.
The BPD type girls are like this emotionally. You can forgive their every psychotic tantrum, and now they expect it. And level of docilility and forgiveness you previously expended is now the bare minimum. But they never return the courtesy, of course, and every little thing you do is catastrophized. You will never be good enough, you're constantly pushing the border up the hill while she pours more dirt on the summit.
