I helped him out once at a convention since the costume apparently had shit visibility and he needed to keep his hands inside to operate it, so I had to guide him around using a gerry-rigged radio set.
Anyways, what really struck me was that the guy pronounced anime as "uh-neem" like "anemic". So when he was trying to arrange group photos he was shouting "hey, let's get all the guys dressed up as characters from UH-NEEMS in this next one".
