Ouch, that really sucks.
I lost multiple hdd's with 13-15 plus alternate hdds from other years. I always liked looking through all the pictures every once in awhile and remembering all the memories from just the pics. pain.
is there anyway to recover the data? maybe ask /wsr/ or some smart anon

They kinda are, but honestly you can still get by with a hard drive just fine. Or you can have a small SSD as you system+some programs drive and a hard drive for general storage

Yes, the prices have plummeted. I paid $900 for two 1tb ssds a few years ago. Now a single 2 TB SSD is less than $200.

Prices actually have skyrocketed substantially, even getting a low end 30 series card ran me about $600, iirc. CPU was around $350, and the rest added the total up to about $1.7k

hdds are pretty much obsolete technology but they are dirt cheap and if you need a lot of storage and don't care about how slowly it loads it is the way to go
I have a 80€ HDD for 4TB and all my media is on it
