The public safety is very good (despite the police in some of these countries are also corrupt as hell). This is true for the former eastern bloc and ex-yugo countries. Crime rate is relatively low, and we don't have goatfuckers and niggers to terrorise the population, but instead we have gypsies (they have much in common with the negroes, I only refer to the blacks as "exotic gypsies"). For example, if you want to visit Hungary, most of the country is safe, but keep away from the northeastern part (Borsod province), it's the hotbed of gypsies and the poorest part of the country.
Altough the public safety in ex-soviet countries is much much worse, probably because of the high vodka culture. For example, a few years ago, I read somewhere that Latvia had the highest crime rate in Europe.
Oh, and also keep away from Albania. Those guys are absolute crackheads, so I ain't gonna say anything about them
