>>14327189a soldiers experience of combat is going to be very different than a civilian combatants. If you are a civilian getting into an firefight you've done it wrong, especially if you are going against soldiers. Soldiers are expendable slaves, they are there to take the hits so you don't hit actual important shit. One mechanics life is worth a dozen operators in the grand scheme of things, movies didn't teach that but its how wars are actually won.
Patrols are there specifically there to be shot at btw, don't do that. Take other targets and you win, take the combat mos's fight and you are likely going to die. Keep it to one shot and then scoot if you have to shoot, and be ready to simply drop your weapon and walk like you've never even be around guns before. Disposable gloves are your fren then btw.
If you are a civilian engaging other civilians then make sure you are always the one ambushing them or dictating terms. Remember to not get stuck behind cover, you have to move and reposition even if under fire. If the others can flank you its over, if you flank them you've killed them. It won't matter the numbers either, modern firepower is vast even for 'sports' rifles if you keep your head. That said, avoid shooting if possible, people generally shoot back and getting shot is always a very bad idea, especially if civilians are shooting each others or soldiers. You always get picked up after getting shot even if you survive. And as a civilian vs civilian, never drop your weapon, that fight is to the death, its generally a universal rule non soldiers don't take prisoners.
The ones whom take the first shot generally win. Don't stand out, those that do get shot first. If you are shot at, its confusing and chaotic and you will likely freeze behind the nearest cover if you didn't get hit, don't freeze, you have to move. If you want to use your rifle only ambush and other than that only as a last line of defense, otherwise stay under cover.
