cats can purr, cats can climb trees, cats can rotate their bodies while falling and land on their spring-loaded legs to avoid injury
foxes can't do any of those things at all
cats are also domesticated and get along well with humans while even foxes that have been bred to be more domesticated aren't quite there yet

no they were just playing there were some other images but I didn't want to upload them all

anyway around here foxes are roughly the same size as a housecat so it wouldn't make sense for them to prey on them since they both fill the same niche and are roughly the same size and as I said even though I suspect the fox might win it would definitely get pretty hurt fighting a cat so they would probably only fight over territory or carcasses and it's not uncommon for cats to have buddies around and they can also climb trees to escape the fox it just doesn't add up
