Pretty much every pagan religion followed a similar formula, the world was created by a pantheon of deities, and all aspects of nature are controlled by a deity. Cultures that were thousands of miles apart from each other all had their own local religion, but said local religions were all still pretty similar, with some of them even having deities that were pretty damn similar to each other. You could say Enki and Poseidon were the same deity, but both cultures saw him differently. Christianity on the other hand has a very clear place of origin (the Middle East) and it was only after the Christians started destroying other cultures that Christianity became the dominant religion.
