What if the Earth suddenly stops spinning arounds it's own axis and half of the planet ends up with 24/7 sunlight and the other half ends up in constant darkness? I think that would be pretty interesting

No, it will be like the moon is to us, we only see one side of it because it orbits our planet and doesn't have any rotation. Same will happen to Earth in that scenario, one side is locked to face the sun and the other not
