>>14484941not just the internet, literally (not figuratively) everything. for example, you don't actually have any human rights. the only rights you have are those that you can defend, and the only power you have to defend them are what is granted you by the authorities. how is that not depressing? do you still have faith in your government, after the last two years? are you a british person posting with an american proxy? I believe It is conducive to human survival to ignore or distract yourself from truths like these, but they always remain.
and what I mean by internet isn't just limited to shitposting on 4chan and kf. I mean the global interconnected network of computers that has led to one of the most prosperous times in human history. if people can't get over their petty grievances now in the presence of mankind's greatest invention, then what exactly does that mean for the future? it's the reason josh spergs about section 230 of the communications decency act so much. it has shaped the entirety of the free and open internet for the last 25 years. those who would fuck with that are so narrow minded, and yet they are the ones we entrust with power to represent us. and then you think of those who count the vote, and digital voting, and you wonder if those people are even legitimately elected. then you look at the average american, and you realize that they probably don't even care. and if they do, they're branded by the ADL as a racist and a science denier and everything else.
in essence, I am disillusioned with society as a whole, and it has subsequently transformed from high trust to low trust. people like josh who recognize this and yet struggle on in spite of it give me hope.
