Yeah, that's the way trends work. Back in the Middle Ages, the Bible was used as the key to everything, and everything written about was made using series of references to Bible verses and the works of Bible commentators. It was extremely common even for logic and arithmetic books written for instruction purposes to use Biblical prophets and apostles in example sentences and problems.
Then from the Renaissance era till roughly right before WWI, everything written about was made in imitation of the ancient Greeks and the Romans. You couldn't write a book about economics or the recent history of a remote princely state without including at least a few quotes from Aristotle or some other ancient author.
And now, we finally live in the age of WWII references, where every evil person must be compared to Stalin or Hitler and every single insult or reproach must be compared to "anuddah Shoah".
Such is the way things are and such is the way they'll always be.
