He sees for himself, hears for himself, judges for himself.
The people in the cave are not autonomous.
They see only that which they're presented. Hear only that which they're told. Adopt judgements given by others.
The others in this question are a group of people who in the allegory hold up shapes in front of a fire to present a narrative, an illusion of reality for the masses.
In real life, they control everything you see and hear on TV, on the radio, on webpages of news media, and through the people who only observe those things and that specific narrative, they also control every other part of the cave where their show doesn't quite reach.
The people in the cave are relays for the fake narrative which isn't reality.
That's why the only way to get out of the narrative, is to get out of the cave and become autonomous.
Doesn't have to be materially self-sufficient or materially autonomous. It's about observing and judging for yourself through your eyes the world as it is.
The best way to achieve this imo, is to simply step out of society.
Unemployment, not watching any TV ever, not listening to the radio, not reading newspapers, not reading the news online, not interacting with society in any way except those ways which are utmost necessary.
Solitude is a great friend. In a world with chatter everywhere you look and everywhere you go, silence can teach you more about the world than any educator ever could.
