Lets talk about the real reason Putin wants Ukraine, since hes been pretty vocal about it for 30 years. Putin says Ukraine is part of russia, it always has been (in his mind). When the Berlin wall fell and protestors had him and his fellow KGB agents surrounded, they called Moscow, but the line was dead. He said "it felt like we had just surrendered our place in the world". Putin is entirely doing this as an ego boost. He wants Russia to be a world power again. And yet this war has only proven how they are weaker than anyone thought possible.
