The reason I hate interest boards like /g/, /a/, and /mu/ is because people there only engage with their hobbies as a way of furthering their social goals, that is to say they watch anime/listen to certain music/use gnu/linux not because they actually enjoy these things but so they can discuss it with their online anonymous "friends""" on those boards.
Meanwhile interest boards I enjoy like, /an/, /co/, and /v/ engage in their hobbies out of genuine interest, and only go on those boards to shitpost and make jokes about them on the side. That's why you can never find ""quality discussion"". People just enjoy what they want to, and dont need anonymous internet points
/tv/ is mostly like the latter but there's threads like /film/ which definitely feature people more in the former category, and /lit/, and /his/ are definitely also a mix of both, with lit being more the former, and his being more the latter. /g/ is also becoming more like the latter day by day .
