Why do you drink? I would probably kill myself if I didn't. It eases the pain.

On the other hand, Scotch is very nice by itself.

Recovering alcoholic/addict here. The more you sober up over time the more your natural happiness comes back. Continuously drinking/using just perpetuates the cycle by leaving you feeling down when you sober up making you want to drink again.

I don't think it's just an escape. It's a band-aid solution to social anxiety and the overthinking that causes it.
In moderation drinking is a wonderful social tool

If I don't drink at social events, usually I just gone home after 45 minutes, and find some banal way of wasting my time.

When I have a drink I've been told I'm incredibly witty, I act so sure and never stop talking (although still not great when talking to girls). Yes, I think I probably will develop an alcohol problem in 10 years time, my father had the same problem with drink.

I'm so quiet when sober and it takes me months before I start to open up with people.

Ive had blood tests and liver enzyme tests done as well as an abdominal ultrasound. Everything is fine. I dont know whats causing this
