It's a common trope throughout story telling. The man who tried to play God. The world is too big and complicated to ever meet the mould of a single perspective.

He wasn't wrong at first but he basically devolved into a little boy trying to play the villain and throwing a tantrum whenever things didn't go his way. Instead of just fucking shooting l he went through a convoluted plotline despite him showing his forensic knowledge.. then after l dies the show goes to shit cause the writer remembers he still has an entire cour to write for and just writes whatever contriived bullshit went into his mind. Death Note was the first Death Note fanfiction. Not even joking.
