The whole universe resets at the end of part 6 so all the shit that happened didn't happen from the beginning to part 6, characters who had stands have none now, no one remembers meeting anyone else during the stand battles etc so it's basically a soft reset, part 7 and 8 happens in this now alt universe so it's pretty much shit.
The side stories are good like Kira reincarnated as a ghost hitman or Rohan's side adventures, there's also a one off of Fugo post part 5 where he is ordered to track down and kill se gangsters who found more stone masks in Italy to prove his loyalty to the new boss (Giorno) So that's a neat throwback to part 1-2 (only manga sorry)
