in WoW the gcd is 1.5 seconds and gets reduced by stats to as low as .5 seconds, so outside of spells with channel times and such you're expected to be playing at around 80apm. final fantasy's gcd is hard set at 2.5 seconds so optimal play requires like 25 apm. because of this many people write it off as a dumb little baby game for people who need to be able to take a tea break between spells

that would be even worse to be honest. if it's some relatively meta discussion about the culture around sports in general at least have some idea of how it works already. if they were talking about some specific baseball match the whole time they'd have to first explain all the baseball specific terminology and then the rules of baseball before i could even start to understand what the story was about
