idk i think people tend to fetishize trains a bit like they're some magic solution to congestion. you don't just need trains, you need people to take the trains too. but too many people consider taking the train to be beneath them. is there a country in the world where traffic in major cities isn't a shitshow, regardless of how well developed the train system or even bullet train system is? japen, germoney, china, gorea, spain, italy, the netherlands, france, britbongland, it's all fucked during rush hour. and the commuter trains in japen are a whole different nightmare
