I think an important part of designing alt-costumes for touhous is respecting the original design choices. Satori and Koishi are a frequently victim of bad alternate clothes (and bad are in general) because artists tend not to pay attention to how the cords on their eyes wrap around them. Much like how ZUN hides the amateurish hands he draws, fan artists put no thought into how an outfit should work with respect to the character's design gimmick.

the worst is when they just don't include the eye but at a certain point you just try to limit the autism since some of it is still nice if you can put the difficulty of managing the cords properly aside

I don't like when they don't draw the cords at all. You are removing a huge portion of the appeal of the characters.
but the eye doesn't always have to be in frame.
