That's true, but ancestral religions work the same way all over the world; you make an offering on an altar and pray to a God or your ancestors. The romans didn't have any myths until they got swept over by Hellenism, does that mean they didn't pray to their Gods all the same? Knowing the names of the Gods and their properties is the bare minimum.

I propose we go back to sumer/babylonian/assyrian religions instead as they're the first recorded religion of a civilized society. heck yahweh is even theorized as a deity from or evolved from those religions.

but these cults have no cultural or linguistic connection to modern jews because they're too ancient. Canaanite religion can be an incentive because it is related in the Bible and still has a linguistic influence on modern judaism.
