does anyone else worry that they may encounter a paranormal entity one day?
like, when you pull away the curtains of a window to close it during the night - do you fear that, one day, standing on the other side of the window, looking at you, will be some strange entity?
or when you wake up in the middle of night to use the restroom: you look down the hall, and see a distorted figure floating in the air...
what would you do? what can you do? what even is the appropriate response? ignore it? attempt communication? there's so many unknowns. just put yourself in that situation - imagine the fear, the uncertainty: here you are, a completely clueless dude making contact with some otherworldly force. it might kill you, it might traumatize you, maybe it might do something far worse than you can imagine. but fear wouldn't amount to the crippling realization that reality is fundamentally flawed - yes, a universe filled with huge balls of plasma that cause things to orbit around them because of some "force" called gravity already stretches things. but supernatural entities actually existing? that's the final nail in the coffin, pal. the world would just stop making sense to you in the instant you see these things.
oh, but it could never happen, because these sort of things just don't exist, right? i'm just getting myself all worked up over something that won't happen. but you can never be sure. there's always that sense of doubt, that feeling that there's something more to this world than meets the eye. something beyond what scientific instruments can detect.
i think about these things i honestly shit myself over it. i wouldn't know what to do. i wouldn't know, and i am afraid.
