Women are the great Satan. Giving them power is tantamount to handing over the reins to Satan himself. All the ancients and more modern figures, like Hitler, recognized this. Yet we've somehow deluded ourselves into thinking we're so much smarter and better, and that we've somehow overcome human nature.
