People with failed lives develop bad habits much easier, and as they go down the spiral it's much easier for them to blame their failed life on their addiction, which originally served as a cope for their failed life. Once people get some bare minimum of willpower they fap less, or consume less alcohol, or do some meme decaf or dopamine fasting or whatever. When they get rid of their bad habbit, they pretended they they have removed the main cause of their problems. From there, they'll either use their newly obtained bare minimum of willpower to fix their life, or after a few years, maybe even months, they'll crash even harder.
