Come to Europe, we got hundreds of thousands of graves from being under Nazi and Fascist occupation littered all over Slovenia; a small nation of under two million at the time. And then there's over 12k that were killed inside those concentration camps too. There's a paper trail for most of people that seized to be during WW2(apart from the gypsies, who were also targeted, but didn't have papers a lot of the time) ... they lived in a society, everyone(except the gypsies) was accounted for.
It may be hard to imagine for you guys living in a third world country.
