That cartoon movie SOUL was apparently pretty accurate on this topic - I haven't seen it.
There is a lot of unexplained info on people knowing things they shouldn't know. Kids talking about being in the war as a fighter pilot and remembering missions and comrades. They explain things they could have no info about when talking to the people that were there. They go meet people across the world and name the whole family type stuff.
Apparently the souls fly around for a long time before going back into a body, so people don't usually remember current events. But, some do a quick reset and are back on earth.
You have heard of past life regression. Or, people thinking they feel like they should live in different times saving maidens. Or, a person being referred to as an old soul.
Who knows what is true, but I don't think we become worm food and complete blackness.
I was 100% science coming out of uni, but science is more of a religion than the Bible when you dig deep enough. First there was nothing, then it became everything. An Easter story of death and 3 days resurrection doesn't seem as crazy as what they talk about. Before the big bang? Who started the big bang? What nothingness are we banging into? If you took away all the bullshit, we probably do live like the bible said ... one earth with a dome over it. The anti religion people add all of the extra planets, black holes, big bang type shit to further diminish what God made. Satan and his minions gain energy from our transgressions.
People ask why He doesn't fix it or end suffering? The truth is, he probably can't. This is the test world to see how you do.
