>>14998177i am 22 and in college, about to start my senior year this fall (one year behind because i switched my major a lot).
what i can tell you from my experience is that unless you are doing a hard science, or law, it's really pointless. and in my case, it's very boring. i am doing accounting, and while i'm doing fine i dread going to class, it's a fucking snooze fest.
though i guess it's worth it for me because in my field they kinda require a degree.
if you don't want to do the general college route do a CS oriented career, and just get your certs and learn on your own. i didn't want to do that because i hate coding and all that shit, even though i use my computer a lot.
if you want to do art/history, best of luck. history is interesting, but hard to make a career unless you want to be a teacher.
art is hit or miss. even if you're really good, it's all about networking and putting your shit out there. my sister did it and struggled a bit, now she went back for her master's degree in fashion at a school in italy. i guess she's doing well now, but she really struggled a bit during undergrad.
overall, if you get the FAFSA money/scholership/grant, and you have literally nothing else to do like me, then go for it.
if i wasn't doing college i'd just be wasting my time. i mean i have a decent job at Apple Retail, pays $20/h so i can live by myself for now, but even at that job i need a degree to really move up past the retail positions.
