4/5ths of /b/ wants something in particular, like ylyl, being edgy, etc. And if you post a rickroll or something dumb a decent portion of the board goes "NOT YOUR PERSONAL ARMY (in response to stupid things like reply to this thread or your mom will die)" "CRINGE" or they be edgy. defeating the original purpose of the board.
In the old days of /b/ people just were "Random", you'd have a rickroll and people would laugh it off, you had a rektd thread but nobody took it so seriously, you had ironic shitposts and people just rolled with it.
It's like what s4s is, except here its actually created originally, and not artificially. Kind of like /pol/.
Wasn't it fucking hilarious when half the board was spamming every new thread with "anime" white touhou posters went rampant, while get threads were taken super ironically?
That's the purpose, to have banter and just enjoy yourself, embrace the randomness, at least as I see it anyway.
