I fucking hate the word "soulslike", Fromsoft didn't invent a new genre. I can understand calling FPS games doomlikes in the past because that was something completely new but action RPGs were not a new thing when Demon's Souls came out. So many games could turn out much better if they didn't copy Souls, since it's obvious only From knows how to do it
Also there's more Dark Souls "lore" in fanbase's head than in Hidetaka Miyazaki's head because they keep searching for connections where there are none
