Marriages were arranged and you would be married off literally as soon as you hit puberty. The transition from childhood to adult was immediate. There was no "adolescence" or "young adult" phase where you're mindlessly roaming around society looking for work and seeking a mate, and trying to "find yourself". When your life expectancy is 45, there's no time for that shit. You grow up, breed, and work in whatever family business you were born into. Perhaps you didn't like it super well but it was all you'd ever known, so there was no jealousy or resentment about your lot in life. Your destiny and place in society was predetermined before you were even born.
But now the world has changed and so many people are being genetically left in the dust. This is bad for our society and the human race in general. We stopped doing what worked for literally thousands of years... and look how it's turning out.
