Don't know, I don't really keep up with developement.
Only thing I remember was regular ascii and that graphics based tileset they're working on.

Yeee, the steam release will be more polished and have that worked. No need to install anything else which is why I'm waiting for it but I don't think it will ever come out :^)

I actually haven't played CDDA but I know someone who does play it right now in fact and got info from that. Too many things to learn just to play it so it's a pass for me I don't want to become NASA engineer. But the tutorial was quite funny kek

You don't need to own the game because the co-op works with that steam co-op thingy. You only need a controller I think. It cannot be 2 kbs as input when steam co-op goes on. Perhaps it works for this game idk but for Isaac someone had to own a controller

You don't have to learn too much I think? At least if you use a graphical tileset.
It's a bit like Zomboid, but turnbased, more indepth and controls are a bit harder picrel
