it's difficult, because you would need to be able to always properly identify a word as a noun for correct orthography.
but it is needed to distinguish between nominalisations and verbs: „Liebe genossen” means “to have enjoyed love” while „liebe Genossen” means “dear comrades”

Yes, English is a Germanic language. Only it has departed from German over the course of the centuries, and that is why the two seem so dissimilar today.

I started copying one guy I worked with when we were making leaflets and posters to advertise stuff. It looked good so I started doing. Since nouns like names, places, and unique objects are capitalised in English anyway it's perfectly reasonable, in my opinion, to capitalise things that are at least locally in scope unique. Like when you refer to 'A big Sale on Clothes' then you're referring to the unique clothes that will be on sale at that sale.

It was an excerpt of a british newspaper with caricatures, from the start of the 19th century, but it was quite long ago and I don't remember where I found it anymore :<
