I had originally thought of it as you meet them as either with you transported to their time, or both of you meeting in a 'neutral philosophical space' where they simply were like 'hey anon, we are you ancestors, tell us about yourself and your thoughts on life'
I hadn't considered the notion of them being omnipotent, but it is a very interesting line of thought, when considering how the answer might change.
