I have sodered before, but i have never had to soder wires together and have no idea how you supposed to do it. This looks horrible but somehow it works

Duct tape each wire individually and then bundle them and duct tape over it parallel to the cable i think

You're literally retarded and I've never seen a soldering job done on such a pointless task. The reason it works is because you've twisted the wires together NOT because of the solder.
You need electrical tape or heat shrink tubing now.

It didn't work when i just twisted the wires together. I have done that with audio and electrical wires before, but with this particular pair of headphones it didn't work no matter how hard i scraped and twisted them

You twist the wires together, apply the soldering iron to the wires first and heat them up for 3-5 seconds then apply the solder to the wires while keeping the soldering iron to the wires. Now you can take the solder iron off and let the solder cool for 10 seconds.

Next time you need to solder something heat up the piece by touching the irons tip to it, holding it there and pushing the solder into the material you're soldering.
I've never encountered a situation with low voltage cabling that would warrant soldering them together but whatever's clever I guess.

Yeah i kinda started figuring it out at the last wire but it was too late. I have only had to solder wires to boards in the past
