>>1534490Probably because we had the industrial revolution with most of the population living in cities and unable to even afford an oven, living on pies and other food bought from street vendors. Then we had two world wars which caused food shortages, especially WWII which had rationing into the 50s, then shortly after that we got frozen food and microwaves. Meanwhile the upper classes were eating exotic foreign food, so any semblance of 'British cuisine' was forgotten hundreds of years ago.
