In my home town, when dinnertime came around you were let know to hurry home
This is not because people are stingy and dont share food, but because parents in my culture expect the kids to come home to eat with the family
So if you wanted to eat at a friends place, it wasnt the friends parents you had to ask if you were allowed to eat with them, but your own parents you had to ask permission to eat elsewhere
In my case I always had to ask an hour before dinnertime, because otherwise my mom would cook food for me and then get upset that Id not come home eat it, since families should usually eat and spend time together at dinner, and cooking extra food that wont be eaten is wasteful
