It's a good thing there already are ordinances to pick up your dogs shit. Leashes and insurance is mandatory in many places, with millions of $ coverage. And I agree dogs should not be kept outside a suitable environment in general.
I think people may need to be educated better about dogs as well. Many don't fully understand what they get themselves into until it's too late; one reason animal shelters are flooded, and that is a real nother problem in its own right, the "animal industry". Breeding also need be regulated and professional standards enforced.
I have my reasons for not owning a dog, but I'm good friends with my friends dogs and can definitely trust them.
I literally jam my hand in their mouth play fighting but can't really get them to bite a bit harder.
A maladjusted dog needs to be put down though.
That's another thing:
Treating dogs like people, like a member of the family, is completely unreasonable. It shows a lack of restraint on the part of the owner and spoils a dogs upbringing.
