>>15435060>>15435058>>15435057The Catholic Church respects the pope as the Seat of Peter, the Bishop of Rome, and the head of the Universal Church. This is because Christ founded the Church, gave it to us, and made Peter its head.
He is only infallible on specific matters of doctrine, and he has to be speaking in very specific terms and in conjunction with the teachings of the Church, the Magisterium, the Bishops, and all that. The Pope cannot just speak some utter nonsense and then say this is a truth because I have said it. No, it is incredibly specific conditions and they are rarely, RARELY, invoked.
Meanwhile, the Orthodox Church simply rejected the Pope as teh head of the Universal Church. They wanted the Bishops to be equal, but the Bishop of Rome is teh head. He is above them, as per Christ, whether they like it or not. In teh earliest days of the Church, they had issues about dogma and teachings. They often went to ROME to get that sorted out. They deferred to the Bishop of Rome.
Schism was in 1054 AD. The issue was of the pope's universal jurisdiction, not infallibility, and many other issues, too.
Regardless of all of that, the RCC is the One, True, Faith. It is the Universal Faith given to the world by Jesus Christ himself. dealwithit.png. Protestants are not Christians.
