As American anons probably know, the fast food chain McDonalds has retired the Ronald McDonald mascot except for as part of its charitable organization.
The recent pop-culture clownphobia in the West has made Ronald too strange to pass focus groups, and as such, he was phased out in early 2010s.

Now Ronald exists as a nostalgic reminder of early '00s ennui.
Zoomers grew up during the zenith of Ronald media, only to watch him slowly die, making him a enigmatic figure unlike any other corporate mascot.

His cultural presence lives on in Asia however, as clowns are still beloved in China and especially Japan.
