Also, avoid getting too close to the south of the country, there are still some guerrilla groups wandering in the forests (Places like Amazonas, Caqueta, Nariño, etc).
Tbh you should be more scared from guerrilla groups than thieves and shit like that, but as I said, just try to avoid the south and always ask to the locals from the city that you're visiting for dangerous locations. Cartels don't mess with you if you don't mess with them, but they're not a serious danger for a common citizen or tourist
