This isn't from LED it's the color temperature. I have LED bulbs in my house with a softer orange hue and they are fine. The super bright white lights are the problem.

Left provides visibility without straining your eyes. Think about how the night mode on your pc is just an orange tint, it's based on the same principle. Right one gives full spectrum light which signals your brain "hey fucker its daytime, get to work wagie!" The logical conclusion is to use either red or green LEDs to preserve nightvision so your eyes stay adjusted to the dark. Green would probably make the most sense since it is only slightly worse then red for nightvision but it has much better contrast.

Reddish "warm" white light should be used. It is more pleasant to look at and does not interfere with sleep as much as blue or white light. Green light is a terrible idea I don't want my neighborhood to look like Fallout 3.
