>>15546907>The death of George Floyd was nothing more than the catalyst of a long-brewing global class uprising against the growing economic inequality which is rapidly eroding the freedoms of the populace and pushing them out of existence, and against the increasing militarization of police and intrusiveness of governments necessary to defend the rich from an increasingly enraged and desperate global populace which is having their futures stolen from them. The pandemic also played a part, along with its gross mismanagement by many governments in the west (especially the US).If you haven't noticed, the Scandinavias are
1) not the US
2) economic inequality, while present, is relatively modest here due to strong social programs, general acceptance of government intervention (aka big state) and progressive taxation
3) we didn't have centuries with slavery followed by a century of segregation
4) we came out of the 2008 financial crisis on both feet due to government intervention
5) even the lock downs had only few adverse effects on our economies
I mean, if they wanted to protest actual structural racism in Norway and Sweden, they could have marched on behalf of the Sami people who were grossly mistreated and abused. Also, if you're protesting economic inequality and the elites, isn't then pretending there to be a white vs. black race tensions present in society a literal diversion? I mean for us, the US clearly have these.
Furthermore, activists in academia are even pushing the de-colonalization thing that has happened on US campuses the last decade, which is utterly ironic since Norway never had any colonies and in fact were even at points in time a vasall state for Denmark and Sweden.
We are literally importing YOUR issues (that may be very real in the US for all I know), and pretending that the same issues apply to us, without even attempting to modify them to our conditions.
