>>15592898yeah in the person's defense it was pretty extreme. i'm sleepy now so i'm not sure i'll get this across well, but the gist of things is that japanese sentences are always supposed to end in either a verb OR a copula and those get conjugated differently depending on politeness. the grammar criminals in question were speaking "politely" by using casual verb conjugations then just slapping the formal copula on the end, which is easier to conjugate
it's absolutely the type of mistake you'd laugh at a JSL for, but that's specifically because ending a sentence with a verb AND a copula is such an insanely outlandish idea that there's no way a native speaker would never do it on accident, especially more than once
