>>15607842you are describing a "version". you don't "reach up", the OBGYN (and often a nurse or 2 will assist) literally flips the baby from the outside by pressing quite forcefully on the belly. its not super risky but can be. i have 3 kids. all 3 were breach, and all 3 were version'd. first was a C section because he flipped back, 2nd one the version worked and she stayed put, and the last one, the version worked--then she flipped back mid-labor--and the OB flipped her back in the middle of the night (almost ended up a C section).
point is that flipping isnt a guarantee, and anyone suggesting that versions are a catch-all replacement for C sections has obviously never dealt with an actual birth. any rational person should leverage every last bit of modern medicine to ensure the healthy deliver of their kid.
